Celebrating Dr. Nader Al Souky’s Success Story

Dr. Nader Al Souky has completed the ILMA GI Research Fellowship and successfully matched into a GI Fellowship at UTMB — becoming the first ILMAUSA research fellow to make this incredible transition.

During his fellowship year at the University of Kansas–Wichita, Nader contributed to 10+ research projects, including case reports, systematic reviews, retrospective studies, and participated in a national randomized controlled trial for Crohn’s disease. He also built clinical databases for liver disease and Crohn’s disease, and gained valuable clinical exposure by shadowing in the GI clinic.

In his own words:

“This experience significantly strengthened my internal medicine application, deepened my commitment to gastroenterology, and became a major highlight during my fellowship interviews. The mentorship, research skills, and confidence I gained through ILMA played a key role in helping me successfully match into a GI fellowship at UTMB. I am deeply grateful to ILMA for this invaluable opportunity and for their continued support throughout my journey.”
